As a lover of traditional music and arts, Vijai(founder of Om Group) has been working with the artists to help preserve them and creating platform to pass on to the next generation.

Parai – Mother of Percussion

Whether its Indian Parai or African Djembe or congas, he loves percussion instruments. Parai, Mother of All Percussion Instruments has been around for more than 2000+ years and making anyone dance for the beat. Vijai has longing to learn the instrument and finally started learning along with his Son from Master Sakthi Ravanan since Dec 2022. They both enjoy the art and learning it and even trying out jamming with drum instrument which son(Akhil) learns from his school.

Akhil also learning traditional Hindustani instrument Tabla as well and experiencing the different types of percussion instruments and how it can all to be brought together.

Silambam – Oldest SouthIndian Martial Art

He also connected with Silambam Master illavarasan(Illa) who just moved to Houston and happened to showcase his in mastery in one of of neighborhood events. Silambam is one of oldest traditional martial art rooted almost 1000+ years ago. Illa was looking for avenues to share his Silambam mastery to the next generation so Vijai requested Sugar land Tamil School board to allow him to showcase his talent in another event. Parents and Kids loved it and wanted to learn the art from him. Illa started teaching small group of kids & parents in Sugar land area starting Jan 2023.

Handloom Expo

Coming from Handloom Business family, Vijai loves traditional art of weaving in Hand and creating sarees and other products which people love. In collaboration with Traditional India organization, we are helping to showcase the Handloom products in Houston area to support . Traditional India is functioning to promote handloom products and organic food products. It empowers the weavers from India by showcasing their products all over the world.
